3-5. Perform muzzling procedures for canines and felines.

4-2. Perform a virtual cat dissection.

5-1. Define venipuncture.

5-2. Discover common venipuncture locations.

5-3. Practice proper restraint techniques for canine and feline venipuncture locations.

Activity 6

6-1. Recognize various types of injections.

6-2. Identify proper venipuncture technique.

6-3. Perform venipuncture using the venipuncture trainer.

7-1. Explore common surgical procedures such as spaying and neutering.

7-2. Discover the importance of asepsis.

7-3. Determine the proper method for maintaining aseptic conditions.

9-1. Practice placing interrupted single sutures.

9-2. Practice placing subcuticular sutures.

10-1. Discover the importance of basic first aid.

10-3. Practice a finger sweep to dislodge a foreign object.

10-4. Perform rescue breathing.

10-5. Simulate abdominal thrusts to dislodge an airway obstruction.

10-6. Locate and measure the femoral pulse on the CPR manikin.

11-1. Discover the instances in which CPR is required in a veterinary emergency.

11-2. Practice the proper steps to performing canine CPR.

12-1. Take the Vocabulary test.

12-2. Explore various companion animal breeds and species

Activity 13

13-1. You will participate in a career shadowing activity that the instructor has arranged.

13-2. You will perform a virtual pig dissection and compare the anatomy of the pig with the anatomy of the cat you dissected in Activity 4.

Activity 14

14-1. You will participate in a career shadowing activity that the instructor has arranged.

OR

14-2. You will perform a virtual pig dissection and compare the anatomy of the pig with the anatomy of the cat you dissected in Activity 4.

Activity 15

In this activity you will finish any work you have not yet completed. You will complete the module by taking the Post-test, answering the journal question, and turning in any necessary work such as the research journal or presentation.

If you have completed all of the required work, you will explore the Vet Emergency software that will allow you to diagnose and treat several different species of animals.
