Engineering Design - 3D Modeling CPU
Introduction
The
Engineering Design—3-D Modeling CPU introduces students
to the fundamental skills and tactics--as well as the historical
significance--of the field of engineering. The course also
employs the computer-aided design (CAD) software ProEngineer
Wildfire, allowing students to apply design skills
first-hand to their own 3-D models. While designing a block
structure and cell phone with ProEngineer Wildfire,
students more fully understand the design and tactical decisions
of professional engineers as well as increase their general
knowledge of technology, expand their multimedia communication
skills, and work closely with dimensions and mathematics.
As the demand for engineers who can “think
outside the box” increases everyday, this course challenges
students to consider their own design decisions while still
providing comprehensive instructions on how to create precise
designs with ProEngineer Wildfire. This CPU addresses, as
well, the many stages of design--both in reading and
application--as students create base features (initial parts)
and assemblies (collections of parts that make a working
object). As such, students will execute micro- and macro-level
design decisions while navigating the exact caliber software
many professional engineers use today.
This course also includes a coupon for one
FREE registration (up to
$400.00) to an upcoming ProEngineer Wildfire Introduction
Workshop taught by
Learning Labs, Inc., Applied Technologies' parent company.
Learning Labs, Inc. has been selected as an educational
representative for Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC), the
company that developed ProEngineer Wildfire. After
completing the workshop requirements, each participating teacher
will receive and be eligible for the ProEngineer Wildfire
Schools Edition—Software Grant Program, which includes free
licenses of ProEngineer Wildfire Schools Edition design software
(up to 300 seats), the project-based curriculum, and tutorials.
