Natural Resources PAC
Introduction
When
North America was first settled, it was thought that the supply of
natural resources was endless. Today we know this is not true, and
there is a strong need for conservation.
What is conservation? Conservation, by
definition, is the wise use of available resources. The Natural
Resources PAC teaches students the difference between
nonrenewable and renewable resources and how they are best managed.
Using hands-on testing and interactive software,
students explore the conservation of water, soil, wildlife,
forestry, and minerals.
The wind turbine testing device encourages
students to research alternative energy methods. And, the
individualized waste and recycling project they conduct gives them
the opportunity to recognize the need for waste reduction
programs.
As students learn to appreciate our natural
resources, they will become more committed to the need for
conservation.
