Computers on the farm? It wasnt that long ago
that computers and agriculture didnt go hand in hand. But because technology is
advancing so rapidly, agriculture as well as other industries and businesses are becoming
more dependent on computers. Computers give industries the speed and accuracy to keep up
with the rapid changes.
In the Computer Applications PAC, students learn computer skills that prepare them to compete
in the agriculture work force. They discover the difference between hardware and software as well as
input and output devices.
Just how does a computer work? Students will study the
CPU (Central Processing
Unit), ROM (Read Only Memory), and RAM (Random Access Memory).
After this brief introduction to computers, they delve into
Microsoft® Office.
Students work with
Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint to produce
various documents and presentations on an original nursery business that
they create and develop.
Completing this PAC will
give students a better understanding of computers and how they affect the agricultural
industries.
