Introduction to Global Positioning

As opposed to our Global Positioning CPU, Introduction to Global Positioning contents (GPS receiver model subject to change)this 5-10 hour curriculum package provides an agriscience instructor with all the necessary resources for teaching an introductory class in GPS (global positioning systems).  While participating in this exploratory course, students will:

  • become familiar with the history of mapping and navigation
  • discover the origins of GPS
  • define point, line, and area
  • create a map using a data dictionary
  • explore GPS and GIS applications
  • research careers that employ GPS and GIS technologies
  • learn how to correctly use a GPS receiver
